Puppy's Grooming Packages

Four Appointment Package: £125
Puppy Grooming Appointment: £38 per appointment

At Bridge & Bark Mobile Dog Groomer, I offer a gentle, confidence-building introduction to puppy grooming in Chertsey. My Puppy's Grooming Journey is designed to make your puppy's first experience grooming calm, positive and unhurried.

Puppies can begin their journey from 12 weeks old, or two weeks after their second vaccination. I will always work at your puppy's pace, putting their comfort and welfare first in my quiet, one-to-one mobile grooming salon.

A Gentle Introduction to Puppy Grooming

A puppy's first groom can shape how they feel about professional grooming for the rest of their life. Rather than expecting them to manage a complete groom on their first visit, I introduce each part of the process gradually and positively.

My puppy introduction grooming appointments may include:

  • Gentle brushing and coat handling
  • A puppy bath and brush
  • Becoming familiar with professional drying
  • Calm exposure to grooming equipment and salon sounds
  • Gentle handling of paws, face and body
  • Nail trimming, where suitable
  • Face, feet and hygiene trimming where appropriate
  • Learning to stand calmly on the grooming table
  • Time to explore and settle into the grooming environment

Every puppy is an individual. This is particularly helpful for puppy grooming for nervous puppies, as I can adjust each appointment around their confidence, coat type and needs.

One Package, Four Puppy Grooming Appointments

The Puppy's Grooming Journey includes four carefully planned appointments, usually around four weeks apart. This gives your puppy time to become familiar with me, the mobile salon and each new part of their grooming routine.

  Appointment 1
Getting Comfortable

The first visit is about making a lovely first impression. I will introduce your puppy to the mobile grooming salon, gentle handling, brushing and the equipment they may encounter in future appointments. There is no pressure to complete a full groom; the priority is a calm, rewarding experience.

Appointment 2
Building Confidence

Once your puppy has had time to settle into the idea of grooming, I can introduce more elements of their routine. Depending on their confidence, this may include bathing, gentle drying, brushing and nail trimming. Plenty of reassurance and patience are given throughout.

Appointment 3
Introducing More Grooming

By the third appointment, many puppies are more comfortable with the routine and environment. Where appropriate, I can begin gentle trimming around the face, feet and hygiene areas. I will never rush a puppy, each stage is based on how they are coping on the day.

Appointment 4
Preparing for Regular Grooming

The final session brings together the experiences your puppy has built over their journey. The aim is to help them feel relaxed with regular brushing, bathing, drying, handling and suitable trimming, creating a positive foundation for their future grooming appointments.

Why Start Puppy Grooming Early?

If you are wondering, “When should my puppy have its first groom?”, an early, gentle introduction can be a great place to start. Beginning from 12 weeks old or two weeks after the second vaccination allows puppies to experience grooming before their coat needs extensive maintenance.

A structured puppy grooming programme can help your puppy become used to:

  • Being touched and gently handled
  • Having paws and nails checked
  • Having their face handled carefully
  • Standing on a grooming table
  • Being brushed and combed
  • Bathing and drying
  • Hearing clippers, dryers and other equipment
  • Spending relaxed time in a professional puppy grooming salon

This can be especially valuable for Poodles and similar coat types that are likely to need frequent grooming throughout their lives. At Bridge & Bark Mobile Dog Groomer, only one dog is groomed at a time, providing a quieter and more personal setting.

Puppy Grooming Questions

When should my puppy have its first groom?

At Bridge & Bark, puppies can begin grooming from 12 weeks old or two weeks after their second vaccination. Starting early with a gentle puppy introduction groom helps them become comfortable with grooming before their coat needs more regular maintenance.

Can an 8-week-old puppy be groomed?

Puppies are not groomed at Bridge & Bark from eight weeks old. They can start their Puppy’s Grooming Journey from 12 weeks old or two weeks after their second vaccination, helping to protect their health while introducing grooming at an appropriate age.

How do I prepare my puppy for their first grooming appointment?

Before your puppy’s first groom, practise gentle handling at home by touching their paws, ears, face and body, and giving them calm praise. Short, positive brushing sessions can also help. Bring your puppy relaxed where possible, as the first visit is focused on settling in rather than completing a full groom.

What is a puppy introduction groom?

A puppy introduction groom is a calm, gradual introduction to professional grooming. It may include gentle brushing, coat handling, salon sounds, the grooming table, bathing, drying, nail trimming and suitable face, feet or hygiene trimming, depending on your puppy’s confidence.

How much does puppy grooming cost in Chertsey?

The complete Puppy’s Grooming Journey costs £125 and includes four appointments, usually spaced around four weeks apart. Individual puppy grooming appointments are also available for £38 per appointment.

Can puppies have their nails clipped during grooming?

Yes, gentle puppy nail clipping can be included where suitable and where your puppy is comfortable. Nail care is introduced slowly as part of the positive grooming process, with your puppy’s welfare and confidence always put first.

What should I do if my puppy is scared of grooming?

Choose a patient, low-pressure introduction rather than expecting a full groom straight away. Bridge & Bark offers quiet, one-to-one puppy grooming in Chertsey, with appointments adapted to nervous puppies. The four-visit journey allows time to build confidence gradually and positively.
